New Zealand, Australia, SE Asia, Japan travel advice needed - Australia Forum

My wife and I are planning a trip next April to Hawaii, Tahiti, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan. I'm working through AirTreks for flights. With limited time my preliminary plan is to visit: Honolulu, HI for 3 nights, Papeete, Tahiti for 4 nights, Auckland, NZ for 4 nights, Queenstown, NZ for 4 nights, Cairns, Australia, 3 nights, Uluru (Ayers Rock), 2 nights, Canberra (to visit a friend), 2 nights, Sydney, 4 nights, Singapore, 4 nights, Hong Kong, 4 nights, Seoul, Korea, 4 nights, Kyoto, Japan (fly into Osaka?), 4 nights and take train to Tokyo, 4 nights (with a day trip to Hakone). We live on the east coast of the US. With the exception of the train trip from Osaka or Kyoto to Tokyo all travel would be by plane.

My questions are: does that order of travel seem most efficient, especially in Australia and Japan, any suggestions on hotels vs Airbnb's (no hostels) or things to see and do. We've gotten travel guides for all of these places so I already have some ideas of what to do in the various places, but would appreciate what other people think.

So, why do we want to go to so many countries in such a short time? We're kind of trying to fill in with places we haven't been and some places we've already been but want to return to (like Hawaii, Tahiti, Japan).

Thanks for your ideas!!
