About this sitter

We are an outgoing and friendly, mature couple, who left Scotland UK in 2014 to travel the world. Janice continues to be a writer and published novelist and Trav is a retired engineer and now a PADI Staff Instructor (scuba diving). Our plan has always been to travel and have adventures and to live like locals not tourists wherever possible. Now that we are into our fourth year of travelling, we are looking to take things a little more slowly. For this reason, we are mostly looking for longer term housesits of several weeks to several months and we are willing to travel internationally for the right assignment. We are both animal lovers and have lots of experience with pets and livestock. We are practical and skilled in looking after a home and we promise to attend to your home and to your animals as carefully as you would while you are away.

Why they want to house sit

We are committed to long term travel outside the UK as we wish to experience other countries and cultures, so we are looking to spend longer than just a week or two in the places we visit, within the visa specifications for UK passport holders. Housesitting internationally will allow us to experience local living and to meet new and interesting people as well as allowing for a settled lifestyle that involves caring for a home and for pets - but of course, if you don't have any animals, we are interested in just homesitting too.

Their experience

After bringing up our own family and other animals in rural Scotland UK for over 27 years in a remote setting, we are used to looking after a home both inside and outside. Trav and I both have practical skills and are able to address any problems around the home whether it be a dripping tap or a loose roof slate.

What can they bring to the assignment

We are friendly and sensible, mature but also fun-loving, honest, kind, practical and reliable, and we have a respectful and positive attitude to life. We have many life-skills to offer while we housesit. We are well travelled and currently in Asia but will be free and flexible to travel and to homesit from the end of September 2017 to the end of March 2018. I intend to add character references to this listing asap and will provide police checks should they be required.
