Back on the trusty tuk tuk for the "shuttle" to the airport at 7:30 am. Because it is an international flight we have to be there 2 hours ahead. The airport is very nice and modern however going through immigration was interesting. Several others also noticed the event. A very gruff supervisor was shuffling people into the various lines. He sent 2 Chinese travellers into the line ahead of us. They were laughing and rubbing their fingers together and when they stepped up to the immigration window the money changed hands quickly. Obviously the supervisor was directing them to this particular agent who would take the money and then the supervisor would get his share. Others commented on how blatant it was.

The 40 minute flight was uneventful and we had a "vegetarian" breakfast.

The Bangkok airport is a very interesting design from the outside. Immigration was smooth and our bags were waiting for us. Our next destination after a few days here is in Mya nmar. Travelling there is somewhat complicated because to enter the country you must have a Visa, a booked hotel and proof of a flight out of the country. We had the first two done

and since we wanted to go back to Thailand after Myanmar we went to the Bangkok airways ticket office and got the next 2 flights booked.

We grabbed a cab from the airport to our hotel - a distance of about 30 K - $ 18.

When we booked the room at the Centre Point Hotel we asked for an upper floor (less noise). We ended up on the top - 26 floor. There is a multi-level shopping centre under the hotel. The room is very spacious and even has a washer/dryer so we have been catching up on laundry.

Tomorrow we head out to explore.
