China Eastern adds three new Southeast Asian routes

China Eastern Airlines is introducing more flights to Southeast Asia, with three new routes connecting mainland China's mega-cities with destinations in Thailand and the Philippines.

Last week, the carrier launched twice weekly flights from Guangzhou to the Thai resort of Krabi. This route will now run twice a week (Tuesdays and Saturdays) using a Boeing 737 aircraft. China Eastern will compete with Thai AirAsia on the route.

And on 12 September, the carrier will launch two new services from Chengdu to the Philippines. Flights will operate to Manila three times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) and Cebu on the remaining four days of the week, and all services will use an Airbus A320 aircraft.

China Eastern will be come the only airline operating the Chengdu-Manila and Chengdu-Cebu routes.
