President Barack Obama spent day four of his luxurious two-week vacation in Hawaii hiking with family and friends and did not got unnoticed.

Unassuming hikers were delighted to see the President and First Lady Michelle Obama walking the Koko Head on Oahu's southeastern side with friends on Tuesday.

The Obamas arrived for the hike just before 10am after the President took an early morning trip to Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Kaneohe to exercise at a gym.

On Monday, the president went the golf course after a morning workout and some time spent at his vacation home in Kailua.

Hop in: The personal hot tub connected to the pool is perfect for the POTUS and his family should they wish to unwind after a challenging day of hiking trails and playing golf

Despite having the luxury accommodation, The First Family and some close friends ate out at Morimotos in Waikiki, opened by Masahar u Morimoto of the Food Network show 'Iron Chef', on Sunday evening

The president's motorcade arrived at the exclusive Mid Pacific Country Club for a round of his favorite sport.

Members are said to pay around $16,500 a year to set foot on the high-end course by the Koolau Mountains, according to local reports.

Onlookers lined a nearby public street to try to see the president, his high school pals Greg Orme and Bobby Titcomb, and another close friend Darrell Harrington - but security kept the onlookers away from the 18th green.

Obama attempted a chip shot of about 40 feet and made it into the hole. He reacted by dropping his wedge and raising his hat and arms into the air.

He then pointed his finger at the media and tipped his hat and waved toward the gallery watching him from the road. Obama then walked over and high-fi ved his playing partner, Darrell Harrington.

Garden: The home has element of an Asian inspired garden such as smooth stones and a tiny bridge. Although some expenses - including the rent - are paid for privately, the emergency personnel and daily expenses of Obama's security detail are all publicly-funded

Clear as day: With crystal-clear water and some of the softest sand your feet will ever touch, it's easy to see why the Obamas have chosen to rent a holiday home in the Kailua neighborhood for eight straight years

Later the president was delivered the news that six U.S. soldiers were killed by a suicide bomb in Afghanistan.

So far, the First Family has been enjoying a low-key but luxurious few days on the island.

They finished the secon d day of their Hawaii vacation dining at an upscale Japanese restaurant after a day of hiking.

The First Family and some close friends ate out at Morimotos in Waikiki, opened by Masaharu Morimoto of the Food Network show 'Iron Chef', on Sunday evening.

The venue, where a tasting menu costs $120-per-head, has become an annual tradition on their two-week festive break.

Sophistication: Not only is the property furnished to high standards, it also has a luscious garden and koi pond for everyone to enjoy as well. The decor is modern and pristine

True blue: crystal ponds grace the outside of the home which also has a swimming pool and a hot tub and other plush amenities

Relax: Warm lighting fills each of the bedrooms in the five bedroom home. The family will be able to spend time with friends as well as have alone time to relax and reflect on a wonderful vacation

Splish splash: This is one of the six bathrooms in the home. The bathtub looks as though it's big enough to be a hot tub and the marble details adds to the sophistication of the design

They spent two hours eating inside and left to find residents and tourists lining the sidewalks to try and get a glimpse of them before returning to their rental home.

Earlier in the day the Obamas headed out to the Makiki Valley Loop Trail, spending about 90 minutes along the path.

He is scheduled to return to the White House just after the new year to begin focusing on what he can get done with the Republican-controlled Congress in his final year in office.

The president does not have any public events planned during the vacation, according to ABC.

On the way to Hawaii, Obama stopped in Southern California to carry out what has become one of the grimmest rituals of his presidency: consoling the grieving relatives of victims of gun violence.

Obama and his wife spent nearly three hours late Friday hearing from the loved ones of the nine men and five women killed December 2 when a married couple opened fire on the husband's co-workers at a workplace holiday party in San Bernardino, east of Los Angeles.

Making friends: Obama thrilled hikers when they spotted him at the Koko Head trail on Tuesday morning and he allowed them to take photos (pictured left in a social media image). The President and The First lady were snapped riding from the trail in their motorcade as well (pictured right)

Fun ahead: President Obama arrived in Hawaii on Saturday and found himself at the Mid-Pacific Country Club's golf course on Monday. Obama said the meetings in a high school library were 'so moving' because the families were so representative of the country.

The Obamas' vacation costs are being savaged by a critical conservative group, which said Obama is treating Air Force One, which costs $206,000/hour to run, 'like an Uber ride' ahead of his next jaunt to his home state,' Tom Fitton, president of the Judicial Watch pressure group said.

Although some expenses - including the rent - are paid for privately, the emergency personnel and daily expenses of Obama's security detail are all publicly-funded.

Exact figures for the trip - outside of Air Force One - are hard to obtain. According to a Watchdog.com report on the 2014 trip, there is also an Air Force cargo plane to bring Obama's helicopter and limo, which costs more than $150,000 to get to Hawaii and back.

A second plane brings a Marine Corps contingent at similar cost.

The Honolulu Police Department also spends in the region of $275,000 a y ear in overtime for its officers, while the ambulance from the local Emergency Management Services costs $15,890 to keep on call.

Yet, he still has not taken anywhere near the total number of vacations or days off as his predecessor, George W. Bush, the report showed.
