New for 2016: Tour Southeast Asia by private jet

Tour includes helicopter ride over famous Angkor temples.

Your neighbor asks: "What did you and Millie do on your vacation, Bill?"

You tell him: "Oh, we flew over to Thailand, hopped on a private jet there and zipped off to a gorgeous bay in Vietnam for a couple of days. Then we flew to a spot in Cambodia to soak up the culture there -- including a helicopter ride over the iconic Angkor temples -- then we hopped over to Laos for a stay in the country's ancient capital and a cruise on the Mekong River. And then we flew over to the Philippines for some beach and surf time, and after all that we wound up in Tokyo for a few days of everything from sushi tasting to exploring centuries-old shrines to browsing around some of the city's hippest shops and art galleries, and then we flew home from Tokyo."

Your neighbor says: "Sure you did, Bill."

Actually you can go on this dream trip as one of 16 passengers who'll fly through the friendly skies of Southeast Asia on two private Gulfstream twinjets. The 14-day trip, aptly named "An Extraordinary Private Jet Journey," is set for March 6-20 next year by the also aptly named Elegant Journeys Department of Gibsonia, Pa.-based Frontiers International Travel in conjunction with Amanresorts and Remote Lands.

Among ground arrangements for the adventure will be stays in luxurious Amanresorts' hotels and private cars, drivers and guides for each couple during tour days. Trip participants will gather at night for cocktail parties and gourmet dining.

You wouldn't expect a trip-of-a-lifetime like this would come cheap, and it doesn't. The tab starts at $58,888 ppdo (per person, double occupancy).

Frontiers Elegant Journeys specializes in "stylish adventures and thrilling expeditions" around the globe. The travel company's tours include everything from photo safaris in Africa to private yacht charters in Alaska, barge cruises in Europe, family cruises in the Galapagos islands, tours of the Arctic and the Antarctic and many more.
