Asian, Gulf Carriers Recognized Among World's Best in 2015

When it comes to boasting the best combination of cabin comfort, in-flight service, customer service and value, Singapore Airlines is the world's best, at least according to Travel + Leisure's 2015 World's Best Awards.

The Asian carrier earned an impressive score of 90 (no other airline earned better than an 87) based on T + L reader surveys completed from November 2014 to March 2015. The score is an indexed average determined by travelers' evaluation of the aforementioned characteristics.

Gulf carriers Emirates and Qatar Airways weren't far behind Singapore's flag carrier, though, finishing second and third respectively. Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific and Air New Zealand rounded out the top five. 

Three other Asian airlines cracked the top 10 with a score of 82 or higher. No. 7 ranked Thai Airways was recognized along with Emirates for being featured on the list for 10 consecutive years. The two airlines were awarded Hall of Fame status. 

Even more impressive, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific and Virgin Atlantic were awarded Super Hall of Fame status for having been included in each of the past 20 years.

T + L also ranked the top five domestic carriers based on reader surveys. Virgin America topped the list for 2015 with a score of 83, while low-cost carriers JetBlue and Southwest Airlines (both of which have been featured on the list in each of the past 10 years) were once again recognized as being among the best in the U.S.

No. 3 Hawaiian Airlines was recognized for appearing on the list each year over the past two decades.
